Chelsea set to win race for Manchester United star in major coup
By Bence Bocsak
Manchester United will lose this star to a rival.
Sir Alex Ferguson’s Manchester United can be proud to say they overcame some of the fiercest challenges and rivals during the Scotsman’s tenure in the Premier League. After almost a decade long battle with Arsenal, in the early 2000s a new challenge arose in London.
Chelsea armed with the heavy artillery of Roman Ambramovic’s embarrassing riches rose from the ashes and grew into an enormous giant. Ferguson had to work hard to wilt Chelsea’s new powers but over time, the Scotsman helped United ascend back to the pinnacle of English football once more.
In the years in which the two sides vested for power, a great rivalry emerged. The rivalry was steeped in elitism with both sides striving to be the best in the country.

Ultimately the crescendo of the rivalry occurred in the Champions League final of 2008 where the two English sides met in a mighty battle.
Frank Lampard was on the losing side of that match. But it seems he might not be on the losing fight in a recent transfer battle between Chelsea and the Red Devils.
According to the Independent via the Daily Express, Chelsea are about to win the race for Manchester United contract rebel Angel Gomes in what would be a major coup.
As manager Frank Lampard has developed a reputation for giving youth players a chance. At Chelsea a whole plethora of the club’s new academy stars have blossomed into key first team players.
Angel Gomes meanwhile is United’s youngest ever player in the Premier League but since making his debut under Jose Mourinho, the youngster has rarely had a look in in the first team.
Despite Ole Gunnar Solskjaer‘s willingness to play youth players, Angel Gomes has not been granted with the opportunities you would expect and you can hardly blame the youngster for wanting a chance of scenery.
However, losing a player to the club’s arch rivals would be a major blow to the Red Devils. Angel Gomes has been tipped for stardom over the past few years and while he is yet to fulfil his potential, if he manages to do it at Chelsea, United will rue their mistake.
What do you make of Angel Gomes’ move to Chelsea?
