Manchester United could be about to make a shock move.

He arrived as a saviour. The man to finally cease the perpetual yearning for Cristiano Ronaldo‘s long departed legacy. He seemed like the perfect candidate for the throne. Alexis Sanchez was the true heir for Manchester United and the fans rightfully rejoiced.

After all the Chilean chose the Red Devils over Pep Guardiola‘s Manchester City. With the Red Devils locked in a gripping battle for the Premier League title against their arch rivals, Sanchez’s move seemed like an imminent power shift.

With Jose Mourinho at the helm and now one of the best Premier League players leading the line, the consensus was one of utter elation at Old Trafford.

Alas, things turned rather sour for Alexis Sanchez in the North of England. Sanchez left his pace, rapid feints and slaloming runs behind in North London and was a shadow of himself in a United shirt.

The Chilean could never accustom to life in United colours and his time elicited little reward for the relentless effort the club put for his pursuit in as well as the extortionate money they paid for his services.

Currently on loan at Inter Milan, Alexis Sanchez’s fortunes do not seem to changing for the better. The Chilean has struggled in Italy and his form has been below par on the pitch. In a move which was expected to help him rekindle his form, Sanchez found his season marred by injuries and inconsistency.

Yet despite this Inter seem to be keen on retaining his services until the end of the season at least. However in a shock move it seems the Red Devils might not give the Italian club the chance to do so.

According to The Sun via the Daily Express, the Red Devils will not extend Alexis Sanchez’s loan spell until the end of the Italian season and the Chilean is expected to return to Man United next week.

The move is a surprising one and rather ruthless by the club. With Inter Milan holding a slight vestige of hope of winning the Serie A, losing a player of Sanchez’s potential quality will be a devastating blow.
