Neville has a strange view on this Manchester United star’s future.

He exuded blood, sweat and tears on the pitch. Gary Neville was the quintessential player every Manchester United fan dreams of. Having honed his skills in the academy, Neville was United through and through and his spirited approach was hugely endeared at Old Trafford.

He played during the greatest period in United’s history and having won an impressive amount of medals, basically everything you can think of, he is well qualified to give his views about the game. It is why he has fitted into his punditry role so seamlessly since retirement.

Gary Neville has an astute footballing mind. Often he lacked skill and technicality as well as pace, but he made up for it with his determination and footballing brain. Of course his support for United is still unbridled and he has some strong opinions from time to time about what would be the best course of action for the club.

The latest such opinion of Gary Neville might ruffle some feathers though.

Speaking to Sky Sports via the Daily Express, Gary Neville expressed some doubts whether Dean Henderson has the quality to be a Man United player.

Neville said the following:

"“What I don’t buy into is the idea that Dean Henderson at Sheffield United, obviously from Manchester United on loan, can just go into that goal mouth here in front of the Stretford End and adapt to what the demands are of a Manchester United goalkeeper.”"

Those words will be a shock to some United fans who have envisioned Dean Henderson as the club’s future number one goalkeeper.

It is especially controversial considering how good Dean Henderson has been this season. The United loanee has been one of the best goalkeepers in the Premier League playing for a strong Sheffield United side.

Often his performances have merited Dean Henderson some rave reviews. The goalkeeper was especially impressive against champions elect Liverpool in a game where he kept out many of the opponents’ efforts and was let down by an unfortunate error.

Considering the fact that David de Gea has been somewhat poor over the last few seasons and has made an abundance of mistakes, Neville’s comments are even stranger.

Dean Henderson is still young with plenty of time to improve and he is certainly demonstrating potential which could be good enough for United in the future.

Whether Gary Neville is right about his latest remarks, only time will tell.
