Manchester United: Ed Woodward set to make major £180m transfers
By Bence Bocsak
Manchester United could be set for a huge summer spree.
He hasn’t always been an admired figure at Manchester United. His mere presence at Old Trafford has been greeted with disdain by some of the Red Devils’ ardent supporters. However Ed Woodward has defied the odds and despite the onslaught of criticism he continues to persevere at the club.
His divisive character means he is variable in nature. Sometimes the United chief can sanction mega deals which bring the club a plethora of success and others times he merely spends United’s excessive budget on underperforming stars. Unfortunately, most of the time, the latter has been the case for Ed Woodward.
His notable blunders include the likes of Alexis Sanchez or Angel Di Maria and the fans’ disdain can be understandable towards the club’s chief.

Often unreliable, Woodward’s task of helping Ole Gunnar Solskjaer rebuild the current United squad will face another unprecedented obstacle. The suspension of the football has created a volatile market and it is uncertain just how clubs around the world will be impacted. Much will hinge on the precise length of the situation and how long the game has to be played behind closed doors.
The new normal will have inevitably bitten into United’s finances but it seems Ed Woodward is still on course to pull off a major coup.
The Lancashire Live has written a report about how Borussia Dortmund and Aston Villa will demand a total of £180 million from United for Woodward’s top two targets this summer.
The report claims Villa will want £80 million for Jack Grealish and Borussia Dortmund £100 million for Jadon Sancho.
That would be a huge amount for United to spend but the necessity is there and based on the report it seems the club are ready to go ahead with the two deals. With the report claiming that there have been rumours about Sancho who was only on the bench for Borussia Dortmund at the weekend having his head ‘already in Manchester.’
The deal looks poised and both players could significantly bolster the current Man United squad. Jack Grealish and Jadon Sancho certainly have what it takes to guide the Red Devils back to the pinnacle of the Premier League.
£180 million would be a huge fee to spend but in this day and age, it is the astronomical sum you have to fork out in order to ensure greatness.
What do you think about potential moves for Jack Grealish or Jadon Sancho?
