Manchester United battle Jose Mourinho for the ‘next Jadon Sancho’
By Bence Bocsak
Manchester United have a fight on their hands.
For the last few months, there has been one name on the lips of Manchester United fans. Jadon Sancho is on the wish-list of most Red Devils supporters. The mere concept of the Borussia Dortmund star donning the famous Red Devils crest is mouth-watering. He is exactly what the fans have craved for over a decade.
He is extremely rapid and has the ability to slalom past defences with ease. Jadon Sancho is in the same ilk as Cristiano Ronaldo and he has the potential to finally fill the void left behind by the club’s former number seven.
However amidst the current financial crisis, the Borussia Dortmund winger’s arrival might not be feasible. Clubs are already incurring major losses and amidst the brewing financial downfall of the pandemic, the Red Devils might look to spend their money wisely and conservatively.

Spending an extortionate and club-record fee for Jadon Sancho thus might be almost impossible.
And so with that in mind, it seems the Red Devils are already considering alternative in Jadon Sancho’s place.
Marcus Edwards began his adventure in Europe as an Englishman in the same way as Jadon Sancho and has consequently enjoyed very similar results.
Having started out at Tottenham, the English star never got the opportunity he thought deserved at the London based club and decided to move abroad to Portugal. At Vitoria this season in the Portugal first division, Marcus Edwards has stood out from the rest.
Agile and quick, he has similar traits to Sancho. An extremely astute player technical, Edwards could thrive under Solskjaer.
Marcus Edwards has shown he has what it takes to take his game to the next level having impressed against Premier League opposition in Arsenal in the Europa League earlier this season.
However according to Record via Sport Witness, United are not the only club looking to recruit Marcus Edwards. The Portugal outlet claims Jose Mourinho’s Tottenham are also considering making a bid for the 21 year old.
Mourinho has been linked with several Man United targets in the past and it seems like he is extremely keen on thwarting the attempts of his former employers in trying to improve their squad.
The fact that Marcus Edwards formerly played for Tottenham could be a hindrance or a leg up for Man United in their pursuit. Only time will tell.
Would you like Marcus Edwards at Man United instead of Jadon Sancho?
