Manchester United are in a battle for this young star.

For years, decades even they were the noisy neighbours. The ones who would perpetually linger in Manchester United’s shadow. They were ridiculed. Trophy-less and unable to fight back, the Red Devils’ hegemony seemed certain.

It was one which would be impossible to thwart. One that would never topple. The dynasty established by Sir Alex Ferguson seemed so unyielding there was ample confidence amidst the Red Devils faithful that it would last until eternity.

Yet on a fateful summer, Manchester City would receive an unlikely saviour. They would become the inheritors of mass fortunes and the new hordes of money would finally help them ascend to the pinnacle of English football.

They were no longer in the shadows of their arch rivals but they were equals. Derby games had more meaning and fight.

In the last few years the Red Devils have experienced what it is like to linger in the shadows. City under the guidance of Pep Guardiola have managed to win back to back titles, before Liverpool pipped them for the current championship.

It is a trend which Solskjaer is looking to break and in his endeavour to do so, he is trying to build a new dynasty. One that is focused on the long term and one that will have the ability to end Man City’s reign.

Romeo Lavia is an Anderlecht academy product. The Belgian outfit are renowned for having a strong academy. The likes of Romelu Lukaku, Vincent Kompany and Youri Tielemans came through the ranks there.

And Romeo Lavia could certainly follow suit. He is extremely highly rated at 16 years of age and has been tipped to go far. Though it seems he will not be staying at Anderlecht any longer. Romeo Lavia confirmed via Instagram that he will leave the club upon the expiry of his contract.

According to numerous reports both Man City and Man United are interested in his services. Though VoetbalKrant seem to claim that the blues are leading the race for Romeo Lavia’s services.

That could be a bitter blow to Solskjaer. Losing out on a transfer target to an arch rival is never easy. However, with nothing confirmed yet, the fight is still on.
