Manchester United are the clear favourites in the pursuit.

After more than 100 days of pandemic-enforced hiatus, Premier League has finally returned to fill the appetite of its huge fanbase all around the globe.

With a promise to cover mouth-watering non-stop football actions as well as to spread awareness of some noble issues amongst its followers, Premier League has made a remarkable come-back.

To embrace the return of football on English soil, one of the newly-promoted clubs Aston Villa hosted another newly-promoted club Sheffield United in an empty Villa Park, Aston Villa’s stadium that has the capacity of 42,785, as per Premier League guidelines.

While fans of both parties were eagerly waiting for the match to see their players back in action after three-months, there was another section of fans who were there in front of their TV screens to keep tabs on their club’s summer transfer target.

obviously, Manchester United fans were very interested in the match as their highly-touted summer transfer target Jack Grealish was representing his childhood club at the highest level.

However, at the end of the 90 minutes, those United fans came out with a slight grin on their faces as Villa took a sigh of relief after not allowing Sheffield to open the scoring in a highly controversial 0-0 draw.

The reasons were very simple – firstly, Sheffield United, who are tussling with the Red Devils for the devoted fourth sport – a gateway to next season’s Champions League football,  dropped valuable two points, and secondly, Jack Grealish was impressive yet again.

Manchester United have been monitoring the 24-year-old playmaker for a while now. And it is expected that three positions – right-wing, attacking-midfield, and central-midfield – are the top priorities for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer in the upcoming summer transfer market.

In addition to Manchester United and Grealish matter, The Athletic (subscription needed) published a report, stating Grealish is expected to leave Aston Villa by the end of the 2019-20 season for a bigger Premier League side, with Manchester United leading the line to secure his services.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is believed to have impressed heavily by the playmaker’s attributes and reportedly think the 24-year-old could play a pivotal in their journey to become one of the best clubs in Europe.

Grealish’s ability to play in several different positions in midfield and up-front is regarded as one of the main reason why United are so keen on getting the deal over the line. In 2019-20 season, Grealish has recorded nine goals and six assists from 31 appearances across all competitions while playing in six different positions on the pitch for the Lions.

With Grealish’s contract with his current club set to run out in June 2023, Manchester United devotees could be hopeful of an early departure of the Englishman. For now, Grealish’s primary target is to help Aston Villa, who are currently 19th and one-point off a more secured 17th position in the points table, stay in England’s top division for the next campaign.
