Manchester United have lined-up an interesting target.

He bursts down the flanks like an industrial machine. Perpetually running up and down, he is like a well trained engine. Blessed with pace and skill, but also tenacity and astute positional awareness, he is a true modern day full-back. Real Madrid’s Achraf Hakimi will have an extremely bright future in the game if he continues on the same path.

Currently at Borussia Dortmund, Hakimi has established himself as one of the best full-backs in the game. Accomplished going forward, Achraf Hakimi has played more as a winger rather than a defender in an innovative Borussia Dortmund system under Lucien Favre. As a result he has managed 9 goals and 10 assists in 43 games and with his loan-spell set to expire his future is up in the air.

Real Madrid could certainly use him, the right back slot hasn’t really been filled to distinction for some time now and Achraf Hakimi could be ideal for the role. Especially with Dani Carvajal extremely out of form.

However, it seems the Los Blancos could face a challenge to retain the Moroccan’s services.

According to Spanish outlet AS via the Daily Express, Man United are considering making a move for Achraf Hakimi in the summer transfer window and they claim that the full-back is ‘seduced’ by the prospect of playing for the Red Devils.

The move will come as a surprise to many. United have been heavily linked with Hakimi’s teammate Jadon Sancho which means they would have had many scouts watching Borussia Dortmund’s games this season.

Alongside Sancho, Hakimi has been one of the standout performers so therefore it is no surprise that the Red Devils are considering making a move for him. The full-back has the potential to be a world-class talent and he is perfectly suited to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer‘s explosive counter attacking style of play.

Of course the timing is strange however. United only bough Aaron Wan-Bissaka to Old Trafford from Crystal Palace last summer for a hefty fee and the right-back has done well at Old Trafford. To move to sign another right-back who is arguably somewhat better would be harsh and somewhat cynical in the current situation.

However, football is a cut-throat game and if you want to be the best in the current climate you need to be ruthless.
