Manchester United fighting Jose Mourinho for the ‘next Antonio Valencia’
By Bence Bocsak
Manchester United face competition for the ‘next Valencia.’
He arrived in a summer where Manchester United supporters were shedding tears and saying heartfelt farewells. When Antonio Valencia arrived at Old Trafford, Cristiano Ronaldo was on the brink of departure.
Having played in a similar role to Ronaldo at Wigan, the Ecuadorian was tasked with filling the void left behind by the legendary winger.
It was a cumbersome task and almost impossible to fill. Valencia did not succeed however he became a cult favourite and an industrial player at the heart of the United set-up. Valencia played with his heart and his soul on the pitch.

He exuded confidence and he became a key and loyal servant for the club.
In later years, he was switched to a more defensive role and became a valiant full-back. He could run up and down the wing for hours with his perpetual drive and energy. The right-back position was his for over half a decade amidst a tumultuous period in the club’s history.
Antonio Valencia will not be remembered as a club legend but he was a cult hero and he ultimately captained the Red Devils too. He was always an utter professional and a legend in his home country of Ecuador.
Now with Valencia having hung up his boots, a new Ecuadorian star has emerged who has been dubbed as his successor. The name is Pervis Estupinan and he plays as a full-back for La Liga side Osasuna.
At just 22 years of age, he has had an extremely impressive season in the Spanish league. Just like Valencia, Estupinan is blessed with an abundance of pace and fervent energy. He is a marauder going forward and is an accomplished defender too.
Currently on the books at Watford it is unlikely the English side will be able to retain him.
According to Spanish publication La Razon via the Daily Express both Man United and Jose Mourinho’s Tottenham will be fighting for the services of Pervis Estupinan in the summer. The site claims Barcelona and Atletico Madrid are also interested in the youngster.
Pervis Estupinan looks like a major talent, but if a bidding war ensues United are unlikely to be part of it considering they are well stocked up in the full-back position.
Do you think Pervis Estupinan would be a good signing?
