Manchester United have received a response.
At the beginning of every new era, there was always one defining signing which would change the course of Manchester United’s trajectory. For Sir Alex Ferguson it would be Eric Cantona, for Sir Matt Busby it was Denis Law.
These players came at a time when the Red Devils were desperate for a new hero. The Stretford End was practically begging for them to come to Old Trafford and they became revered in United colours.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has made some astute signings but he is yet to get the fans’ hearts racing with a mouth watering deal. A move that is so bold it could single-handedly change the course of United’s history.

Ansu Fati certainly has the potential to do that. And according to recent reports, United made a hefty bid for the Barcelona winger.
At just 17 years of age, Fati is tipped to become the next big thing. He has been heralded as the rightful heir to Lionel Messi‘s throne at the Nou Camp and has caught the eye with sublime performances.
Quick and agile, Ansu Fati can dart through thickets of defenders. Graceful and elegant on the ball, his rapid feints makes him a master of deceit and he is a defenders nightmare. La Liga defences have struggled to thwart him in his tracks this season which is a great testament to his talent. Especially considering the youngster is still just 17 years of age.
The wild figure which United made for Ansu Fati certainly catches the eye. £135 million would make the Barcelona prodigy one of the most expensive transfers in the history of the sport and it would be a club record at United.
Amidst the financial crisis, the offer seems even more astounding, especially considering there have been rumours about the Red Devils pulling out of a deal to sign Jadon Sancho for his hefty price tag.
Nonetheless, it seems, despite the enticing offer, Barcelona are reluctant to sell their young star.
According to the Times via the Metro, the Catalans rejected United’s £135 million offer. The report claims United would only be able to lure Ansu Fati to Old Trafford if the winger’s release clause is triggered which is around £153 million.
The fee is astronomical and time will tell whether United deem it to be a worthy endeavour.
Do you think Ansu Fati would be a good signing?
