Manchester United have made enquiries about the forward.

For a period during the late 1990s and early 2000s, there was one match which stood out prominently on the footballing calendar. The fixture between Manchester United vs Arsenal was always highly anticipated. The rivalry was steeped in elitism. Led by two of the best managers in Premier League history and some of the best teams to have competed in the league, the two clubs competed for the title year after year.

There were hostile words in the media, fights and scuffles on and off the pitch and some memorable moments.

It was a game that was riveting to watch. However ultimately, both clubs now finds themselves in a very different situation. The two elite managers have both departed and have left a gaping hole behind them.

It’s an abyss which neither of the two teams have been able to fill.

But now led by two former players who competed for the legendary bosses in rival games on the pitch, the hope is that Mikel Arteta and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will be able to conjure the successes of old.

And as they embark on rebuilding their squad it seems they have pitted themselves against each other in the transfer window.

Jonathan David is a name that has stood out in Europe this season. The Canadian international who was born in Brooklyn, New York has enjoyed a stellar campaign in terms of goals and assists and finds himself as one of the leading marksman in Europe with a total of 33 goal contributions in 40 games.

Still just 20 years of age, there is a lot of hype surrounding  the young man. He is quick, agile and has a venomous shot. Jonathan David can twist and turn defenders with his rapid feints and it has made him a sensation for Genk.

Undoubtedly, the Belgian side will be looking to cash in on the young star and it seems he will not be short of suitors.

According to HLN via the Daily Mail, Man United and Arsenal have both made ‘enquiries’ over a potential transfer for Jonathan David.

With both teams desperate for forward additions, Jonathan David could be exactly the player Arteta or Solskjaer needs, however the Red Devils might just have the edge over the Gunners considering they are more likely to make the Champions League.
