Manchester United are nowhere near to luring the Nigerian sensation.

Romelu Lukaku’s departure last summer was a set-back in Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s intention of rebuilding a Manchester United side for future. At least with the bare eyes, one would probably assume that it was a hefty loss.

But the way Solskjaer has handled the situation following the departure of the Belgian international deserves some credit for sure.

Though, we can’t deny that there was a number of hurdles en route to making United’s current front-line containing the likes of Anthony Martial with no. 09 on his back, Daniel James and Marcus Rashford with their swift feet, an unanticipated January signing in Odion Ighalo, and the sudden emergence of Mason Greenwood.

And with the signing of Jadon Sancho moving closer with each passing weeks, you might find some United fans claiming that their club’s front-line would be the best in the league next season.

While there is not much to argue about that as United currently have a core of experience and youth present in their side, their manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is reportedly busy hunting down more than one transfer target for each position that still needs to be reinforced.

And reports surrounding the Mancunian club suggest despite extending Odion Ighalo’s stay until January 31, 2021, the club is in the mood securing a move for another striker. United faithful might hope for the arrival of a striker in this summer transfer window.

Earlier this week, a new rumour linking a player named Victor Osimhen with a summer move to Manchester United broke into the social media out of nowhere. Victor Osimhen, a 21-year-old Nigerian, is a regular starter in LOSC Lille‘s senior squad.

In France, he is rated highly for his ability to bully opposing defenders at their own half and his deadly headers. The 6ft 1in tall target-man has played 25 games for Lille this season in Ligue 1, scoring 13 goals and providing 4 assists for the team who were at the 4th position in the points table when the league eventually got voided.

In total, we can say that Osimhen is a youth sensation currently fulfilling his potential while leading the line for one of the best teams in northern France. Besides Manchester United, Napoli have also kept an eye on the 21-year-old poacher.

However, according to Osimhen’s agent brother-in-law, Osita Okolo, neither any Premier League club nor Napoli have made any deal for the Nigerian. Okolo told Radio Marte via Manchester Evening News:

"“I can say that, for now, Osimhen hasn’t agreed anything with Napoli or another club.”“I can also deny that he dreams of going to the Premier League, I don’t know why [the press] says certain things. Naples is a fantastic city and Napoli are a very good team.“I’m always honoured whenever I hear these links, but for now there’s no deal in place, even if negotiations with them are ongoing.“He wants to play regularly, we’re not going to repeat certain bad experiences from the past.“The Napoli fans are fantastic, their stadium is beautiful. I can only speak well of Naples and its team.”"

Odion Ighalo might tout his compatriot as ‘the future of football’, but it seems very unlikely that Manchester United would go for him this summer unless something dramatic happens in the upcoming weeks.
