It is the period when Ed Woodward comes to the forefront. Throughout every twelve months in the year, the Manchester United chief is perpetually busy, taking and receiving calls, negotiating for new recruits. However, in the summer Ed Woodward is undeniably the busiest.

Despite his constant work, for the past few years, Woodward has failed to live up to the club’s expectations. The Red Devils are always desperate to recruit the best players and the most exciting talent.

And while Woodward has lured some impressive names to Old Trafford, he has also missed out on some key targets, while some of his marquees signings have been major disappointments.

The club chief will be desperate to amend his mistakes and even in a tough financial market, United have promised to be competitive in the upcoming window.

Getting the transfer window right will be imperative for the Red Devils. The success of Solskjaer’s reign at the club will hinge on this summer’s transfer window.

United have built the core unit of the squad. The foundations have been laid for the perfect side. However, they are still missing some firepower, extra ammunition which will truly help the club ascend back to the pinnacle of English football.

And according to ESPN via the Daily Express the Red Devils are already leading the race for two key targets which will be reassuring news for the fans.

The report claims that United are the ‘front runners’ for Jadon Sancho‘s services as well as Jude Bellingham who is also ‘edging’ towards a move to Old Trafford.

The report also claims that United could be adding another ‘possible arrival’ in Donny van de Beek from Ajax.

Of course Jadon Sancho will be the name that will excite fans the most. The Borussia Dortmund winger has incredible stats this season and he could finally topple the Ronaldo/Messi hegemony for the best FIFA Player of the Year award.

16 year old Jude Bellingham would also be an exciting addition however, with the young Birmingham star regarded as one of the most promising English youngsters at the moment.

Van de Beek meanwhile could be the icing on the cake. The Ajax midfielder has been targeted by Real Madrid and is a star for both club and country. The prospect of him forming a partnership with Scott McTominay and Bruno Fernandes is an enticing one.
