Manchester United will make a shock Sancho decision.

Ed Woodward’s time at Manchester United has been a rocky one to say the least. The Red Devils chief has struggled to win over the fans and he’s often received the brunt of the criticism when United have struggled on the pitch.

Woodward’s criticism has been warranted considering he has struggled to recruit some key targets to Old Trafford like Erling Braut Haland in January. In addition he has purportedly offered steep wages to underperforming stars such as Luke Shaw, Alexis Sanchez and Jesse Lingard.

Under his leadership there has been a lack of cohesive strategy at United which has started to change somewhat since Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has taken over.

The summer transfer window will prove to be a crucial one in the way Ed Woodward will be perceived at the club. Much of United’s future could hinge on how well United’s chief can sanction deals for the Red Devils in a tough and unprecedented climate.

For the past few months, without any football, the vast majority of the talk at United has been about transfers. Particularly Jadon Sancho’s arrival to Old Trafford.

For over a decade now the fans have yearned for a replacement for Cristiano Ronaldo, and Sancho has been heralded as the long-awaited second coming of the Portuguese star. The hype and frenzy about the Englishman’s arrival at Old Trafford is at an all time high.

Sancho is clearly the Red Devils supporters’ number one target. However what will come as a major shock, the Borussia Dortmund winger doesn’t seem to be United and Ed Woodward’s first choice.

According to the Daily Mirror, the Red Devils’ number on transfer target is in fact Jack Grealish. The report claims that ‘United will prioritise’ a move for Grealish over Sancho in the upcoming transfer window.

While Jack Grealish is undoubtedly a talented midfielder, for many avid United supporters the news will not go down well.

The Aston Villa captain hardly brings the same sort of titillation or class as Jadon Sancho. The two cannot even compared.

And the fact that United are now prioritising a move for Grealish over Jadon Sancho suggests that Ed Woodward is slowly giving up hope of recruiting the Borussia Dortmund star.

With Chelsea potentially signing Timo Werner and Hakim Ziyech, United missing out on Sancho could prove to be a costly endeavour.

Only time will tell.
