Manchester United could be signing another Fernandes.
In January Ed Woodward was on a mission. After extensive reports by Manchester United’s scout team, the Red Devils had found their man. Bruno Fernandes was everything the club was yearning for. It was as if god had created the Portuguese for the exact purpose to save the Red Devils from their perpetual plight.
Fernandes possessed the creativity and the attacking flair to help the Red Devils instil the free-flowing football they aspired to play.
Woodward almost didn’t land the signing. The negotiations stretched on for weeks and the United chief refused to budge. Ultimately he could loosen his tie and sigh a breath of relief but it was a close and tense deal.

United have often done well recruiting from Portugal. The likes of Cristiano Ronaldo and Nani were brought in from the sunny Southern European country. As well as United’s current centre-back Victor Lindelof.
And it seems the Red Devils could be on the verge of signing another Bruno Fernandes in light of his success at Old Trafford from the Portuguese division.
According to reports by ESPN via the Metro, Man United are interested in signing 20 year old Benfica star Florentino Luis.
Florentino Luis is a defensive midfielder who has slowly come through the ranks at Benfica. He has been ravaged by injury problems this season, but is still extremely highly rated and he could be an ideal replacement for Nemanja Matic.
Florentino Luis is tenacious, possessing great technical ability and a robust energy on the field. His traits could enable him to thrive in the hustle and bustle of the Premier League.
Of course, the injury concerns would be a worrying issue for Man United fans. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side have suffered with a plethora of injury problems to their key stars this season and the last thing they need is another injury prone addition to the squad.
However, with the club’s success recruiting players from Portugal there is hope Florentino Luis could be a successful signing just like Bruno Fernandes and Victor Lindelof.
Do you think Florentino Luis would be worth the risk considering his injury struggles?
