Manchester United targeting the ‘new Paul Pogba’ from Ajax

Manchester United may have found their Pogba replacement.

He weaves through defences, slaloming past every opponent. He is a master on the pitch, dispatching balls from left to right and thwarting attackers in their wake. He runs like a man possessed and his energy is ferocious. On his day, Manchester United’s Paul Pogba is a joy to behold and one of the best players in his position.

It is no wonder the likes of Real Madrid and Juventus are desperately trying to prize him away from Old Trafford.

And while much uncertainty lingers around Pogba’s future, it seems the Red Devils could have already found an adequate replacement for the French World Cup winner.

Ajax, much like United, are renowned for developing world-class talent. It is a philosophy which is steeped in tradition and the club’s academy are one of the best in the world. Many of the current elite stars in world football had made their names at the famous Dutch outfit.

In every decade and generation, Ajax continue to churn out world-class talent. Only last year, the likes of Matthijs de Ligt and Frankie de Jong were excelling in the club’s ranks before moving to Juventus and Barcelona respectively.

18 year old Ryan Gravenberch will be hoping to follow in their footsteps.

The young prodigy became the youngest player to play for Ajax in the Eredvisie surpassing Clarence Seedorf in the process when he debuted for the Dutch side in 2018 as a mere 16 year old.

It wasn’t until this season that Ryan Gravenberch has started to gain some regular first team experience however.

And now that he has the young midfielder is already starting to catch the eye. In 12 senior games this season, he has found the net 3 times and has given 1 assist.

Standing at a towering height of 1.9 metres, the Dutch youngster of surinamese descent has caught the eye with his robust and marauding runs into the box and his astute technical ability.

There are definitely shades of Paul Pogba in his style of play as well as Clarence Seedorf. One thing for certain, Ryan Gravenberch is set for a bright future and according to recent reports that future could see him end up at Old Trafford.

Calciomercato via TeamTalk has reported that Gravenberch has rejected a new contract at Ajax which according to the Daily Express via TeamTalk has put the Red Devils on high alert.
