Manchester United have reportedly made a huge bid.

The man has not been a welcome figure at Manchester United over the last few seasons. Ed Woodward has often been forced to defend himself and cower away from the fans. Tensions have been high between the club’s supporters and the Red Devils’ chief.

Those tensions ultimately accumulated in a protest outside Ed Woodward’s home which was unjust and abhorrent behaviour by the fans.

The resentment is understandable though. Woodward has struggled to establish a cohesive unit at Old Trafford. The United chief has often failed to form a clear strategy and direction and that can be frustrating for the fans.

More from Red Devil Armada

Especially when Woodward has missed out on key targets whose arrivals the Red Devils faithful were fervently awaiting.

On top of that Woodward has often offered steep wages to players who do not seem to warrant it such as the likes Alexis Sanchez and Luke Shaw.

The club chief’s only redeemable act this season has been recruiting Bruno Fernandes from Sporting Lisbon. The Portuguese midfielder is already a fan favourite and Woodward succeeded in negotiating a hard bargain with the Lisbon based outfit.

Much of how Woodward is perceived at Old Trafford will hinge on the club’s performance in the summer transfer window however.

United fans are ravenous for some big name arrivals and for players who have what it takes to catapult the Red Devils back to the pinnacle of English and European football.

Those fans will be happy to hear, Ed Woodward could be embarking on a mission to fulfil their wishes.

According to Sky Sports Italia via Sports Bible, United have launched a bid in the region of £71 million for Napoli defender Kalidou Koulibaly.

If the report is to be believed, that is exactly the type of move United fans are looking for.

Kalidou Koulibaly is one of the best centre-backs in the world and has been so for the last few seasons. Bringing him to Old Trafford would be a huge statement of intent.

The Senegalese centre-back could form a formidable partnership with Harry Maguire at the heart of the United defence.
