Old Trafford is no stranger to wonderkids. Throughout the ages, plenty of young stars have broken through Manchester United’s academy and elicited fervent excitement and hype. The club’s history with youth is a longstanding tradition which is iconic in England and across the globe.

The Red Devils were pioneers in bringing through homegrown youth talent as far back as the fifties during the era of the Busby Babes.

The tradition has continued since then, and it has seen the emergence of the likes of George Best, Duncan Edwards, Bobby Charlton or the Class of 92, as well as Marcus Rashford.

When Mason Greenwood looks back at his Manchester United career in the future, he will be hoping he will be among the aforementioned names in the club’s history books.

Certainly, it has been a long time since Old Trafford has seen a young talent as exciting as the 18 year old star.

Mason Greenwood has always been prolific in the club’s academy. However, often that talent just doesn’t translate into the first team. Thus while there were faint murmurs about his prodigy status, people only started taking notice when the 18 year old started making his mark in Ole Gunnar Solskjaer‘s first team.

Now having enjoyed a stellar first season in senior football, Old Trafford is raving about Mason Greenwood. The youngster is regarded as one of the best talents in the world in his age group. And while he may not have been helped by the suspension of the football, it seems Mason Greenwood has taken the time to hone a weaker area of his game.

The 18 year old has been of a slight frame in the past. His thin body has been the only attribute holding him back from really dominating the physically demanding Premier League.

However in the training videos Man United released on their official Youtube channel via the Metro, Mason Greenwood seems to have bulked up considerably.

In one clip, the 18 year old can be seen barging United centre-back Victor Lindelof aside to run through the defence and score a delightful goal.

Victor Lindelof is one of the more physical United players so the fact that Mason Greenwood has been able to brush him aside, is a sign that the youngster could be even more formidable when United are back in action.
