According to the latest reports, Manchester United chief Ed Woodward is expected to lose as many as four attackers in the summer transfer window.

The tension, the excitement and the drama of the summer transfer window has always been a perpetually entertaining aspect of football. For Manchester United fans sadly over the last few years, the summer window has mostly caused drama and tension.

However things seem to be changing. With Ole Gunnar Solskjaer at the helm the Red Devils are slowly hoping to return back to the pinnacle. And while, the summer transfer window of last season was far from perfect (allowing Romelu Lukaku to depart without a replacement is proof) in terms of incomings it was probably one of the best since Sir Alex Ferguson has retired from Old Trafford.

When the summer window commences this season, the pressure will be mounting for Ed Woodward to continue to good momentum at United. The Red Devils chief will be tasked with an uphill battle considering Woodward is set to embark on an unprecedented financial challenge.

Hopes of landing world-class talents like Jadon Sancho for extortionate prices look slimmer and slimmer by the day.

Nonetheless, Ed Woodward will still be desperate to help the Red Devils and provide Solskjaer with the aid he needs.

Of course, the problems at United stretch further than just incomings but also to a hugely inflated squad, with overpaid stars on steep wages who are draining away the Red Devils’ resources. Therefore in order to free up funds, Woodward will be tasked with finding a way to get rid of some of the deadwood at Old Trafford.

And according to a report by Express Sport, the Red Devils could lose as many as ‘four attackers’ in the summer transfer window. The four attackers Express Sport claims the Red Devils could lose are ‘Alexis Sanchez, Angel Gomes, Jesse Lingard and Ayodeji Sotona.’

The two names that will standout for United fans will of course be Alexis Sanchez and Jesse Lingard. The pair of them are both on steep wages and have performed below par over the last number of seasons. Therefore their departures will be one that the fans are unlikely to mourn.

However, Angel Gomes and Ayodeji Sotona on the other hand are both promising youngsters who have been tipped to go far in the game. Losing the pair of them could be a bitter one for the Red Devils.
