According to the latest reports, Manchester United chief Ed Woodward has identified a surprising alternative candidate for Jadon Sancho.

The summer transfer window will be like no other in the history of football. In the current climate, many unprecedented circumstances must be tackled and amidst the unfurling crisis Manchester United will be embroiled in a tumultuous battle.

Before the pandemic would bring a halt to much of the football across the globe, Ed Woodward would have been planning for a busy transfer window and a potential record breaking one with the likes of Jadon Sancho, Harry Kane and Kalidou Koulibaly being lined-up as targets.

Much of Woodward’s planning would have now been torn to shreds. Without the revenue of regular football, clubs have incurred hefty financial losses, which will scupper the Red Devils’ aspirations of signing the aforementioned world-class players.

Undoubtedly, the biggest blow would be missing out on Jadon Sancho. The England international has been heavily linked with a move to Old Trafford. The fans had already invested a large chunk of their time on the speculation.

The prospect of Jadon Sancho lining up in a United shirt is certainly an enticing one. However, it is one that in most likelihood will not happen this summer.

Nonetheless, United will still look to reinforce Ole Gunnar Solskjaer‘s squad and according to Manchester Evening News via the Daily Express, Ed Woodward has identified David Brooks of Bournemouth as a potential alternative to Jadon Sancho.

David Brooks’ name will not be as enticing as Sancho’s. However the Welsh Bournemouth winger is an exciting prospect and has impressed in the Premier League over the last couple of seasons.

In the past the 22 year old has been compared to the likes of Ryan Giggs due to his lightning quick pace and dazzling feet. David Brooks is also blessed with a terrific shot and has already netted seven times from the wing in thirty Premier League appearances. In a struggling Bournemouth side that is mightily impressive.

David Brooks could be well suited to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s explosive style of play. He has already formed a formidable partnership with current United star Daniel James at international level and could look to do the same at Old Trafford.
