According the latest reports, Manchester United could be about to sell this former Jose Mourinho favourite in the summer transfer window.

When Jose Mourinho arrived at Manchester United it was meant to herald a new era at Old Trafford. The barren spell at Man United was meant to finally come to an end.

Yes, Mourinho did technically win the ‘treble’ during his first season at the club, however in the second and third he failed dramatically.

Few players thrived under the Portuguese’s strict regime, concentrated on a rigid defence. However, Jesse Lingard was one of the few who seemed to blossom to life under Mourinho’s guidance.

More from Red Devil Armada

The United academy graduate played his best football under Jose Mourinho. Lingard was a perpetual threat and often the best player on the pitch.

His pace and ability in the final third was crucial in helping the club to some memorable moments under the Portuguese.

During Mourinho’s last full season in charge of the Red Devils, Jesse Lingard finished the campaign with 13 goals which is still a career high.

Now, under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer the Englishman hasn’t found the back of the net in eighteen months and in that period he has not been able to find an assist either. The barren spell has been well noted and ridiculed on social media. Certainly, Lingard’s struggles off the pitch haven’t helped, but he could soon be forced out of Old Trafford.

According to Manchester Evening News, Lingard’s time could soon be up at United.

His poor run of form has made him plummet down the pecking order and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer looks ready to let him go.

The Red Devils are heavily linked with a move for Jack Grealish and Jude Bellingham in the summer, the pairs’ arrival would leave little space for Jesse Lingard in the squad.

With interest from abroad and in the Premier League, the academy graduate may look to opt for pastures new.

It is unlikely, United will miss the 27 year old, however it will be sad to see Jesse Lingard depart in such terms. One will have to hope, Lingard manages to add a couple of more goals and assists to his Man United tally before he inevitably leaves the club.
