Thiago Almada will be an unfamiliar name in England. However back in his homeland Almada is already a popular figure.
The diminutive Argentine attacker has established himself as a regular member Velez Sarsfield who play in the Argentine first division and is regarded as a star in the making and a fan favourite. Some have even inevitably labeled him the ‘next Lionel Messi‘ though those comparisons will be wide off the mark.
Thiago Almada has found the back of the net 7 times in 37 appearances for his club.
He is a robust midfielder, with clever tricks and feints able to deceive his opponents.
And according to a report by Italian outlet TuttoMercatoWeb via 90min, United’s are trying to sign Thiago Almada with the Red Devils having already established contact.
Almada has impressed the club’s scouts and he could be an astute addition. His track record despite his tender years is certainly impressive and there have been plenty of success stories of players being bought from South America over the years in the Premier League.
Think of the likes of Carlos Tevez and Antonio Valencia.
Thiago Almada could become a star at Old Trafford. In terms of playing style he is reminiscent of Alexis Sanchez in his prime and thanks to his pace he could be well suited to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s explosive counter attacking style.
Having only just turned 19 last month, Thiago Almada could be set for a very bright future.
Valued at just £16 million, he could be a huge bargain, especially with the Red Devils needing to bolster their attacking options.
