If the latest reports are to be believed Manchester United could be about to sign the next Cristiano Ronaldo and Wayne Rooney in the summer window.
They arrived as fresh faced teenagers. Spots blotted on their faces, awkward smiles and postures, uncomfortable in the limelight. They were wonder-kids in every sense of the word. Players with an abundance of potential, but much was still mooted about whether they could have successful Manchester United careers.
When they left, nothing was left to moot.
Cristiano Ronaldo and Wayne Rooney will go down as two of the best gems to have been unearthed during Sir Alex Ferguson’s reign at Old Trafford.

While they had shown glimmers of their talent prior to their arrival in Manchester, it was in the Theatre of Dreams’ where they established their name and honed their craft to become world-class superstars.
For half a decade the pair of them formed a formidable partnership which saw United lift the Premier League and the Champions League.
Their names will forever be indelible at Old Trafford.
This summer, the Red Devils could be on the brink of finally discovering their next Wayne Rooney and Cristiano Ronaldo.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has been heavily linked with a move for both Jude Bellingham and Jadon Sancho.
The pair of them are both still relatively young and their arrival at United could be identical to Rooney’s and Ronaldo’s.
Just like Ronaldo and Rooney, Jude Bellingham and Jadon Sancho have the potential to form the foundations for a successful side at Old Trafford. A side that could one day compete for the Champions League and the Premier League.
The comparisons do not end there, Solskjaer will be buying Sancho from abroad, just like Ronaldo had come from Sporting, meanwhile Bellingham will be a domestic purchase just like Rooney.
It’s clear, Solskjaer has tried to emulate his former boss in a variety of ways, and one has been the Norwegian’s focus on recruiting young players.
This summer will be a crucial one for Solskjaer, however if he manages to lure both Jude Bellingham and Jadon Sancho, United could have one of the most exciting young teams in the world for the next decade or so.
The prospect is enticing.
Do you think Jadon Sancho and Jude Bellingham have the potential to emulate Wayne Rooney and Cristiano Ronaldo?
