With the current crisis in football, the Manchester United boss has made an important statement about the club’s intentions in the transfer window.

Transfer windows lay the foundations for success. They are integral to modern football. A successful one can leave you heading towards an upward trajectory and closer towards long sought glory. An unsuccessful one will often leave you on the precipice, teetering towards a crisis. Manchester United will know that first hand.

For decades, Sir Alex Ferguson managed to be the master of the transfer window. The Scotsman hardly ever put a foot wrong when it came to the market.

Ferguson developed a knack for building formidable teams and always finding that extra gem the Red Devils needed.

Following his departure, United experienced the opposite side of the transfer window too.

Over the last few years, the Red Devils have been embroiled in one disaster window after another.

Perhaps the first one in a long time which could be classed as relatively successful was Ole Gunnar Solskjaer‘s summer activity last year.

Though, even then the Norwegian’s error to not replace Romelu Lukaku almost cost him his job during the first half of the season.

When Solskjaer embarks on his second transfer window at United, he will be encountering a completely different market than the first.

It will be an unprecedented territory, and much uncertainty lingers in the air, whether teams will even be able to afford their key targets.

For United, the need to strengthen is glaringly obvious. The fans and Solskjaer are desperate to see the team return back to their glory days and therefore reinforcements are a necessity to bolster a depleted squad.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer speaking to Sky Sports via Goal has admitted that there will be ‘uncertainty’ in the summer and that the transfer market ‘will be completely different.’

However Solskjaer has crucially reiterated that United are ‘always looking to improve the squad.’

His comment will be a hint that the Red Devils will do their best to attract high profile names to Old Trafford despite the current crisis.

It will fill the United fans with hope, with the fanbase desperate for a world-class signing to make a huge statement of their intent at last.
