Manchester United star looks likely to sign for Chelsea in shock move
By Bence Bocsak
According to the latest reports, Manchester United could lose this star to arch rivals Chelsea in the summer transfer window.
In 2017 as a stocky Wayne Rooney strutted off the pitch at Old Trafford, the fans in the ground rose to show their appreciation for the Manchester United club legend and to clap their goodbyes. In Rooney’s place a fresh faced diminutive youngster was about to enter the fray.
Angel Gomes was merely sixteen years old at the time. When he shook hands with Rooney and entered the Old Trafford turf, he became the youngest player to represent the club since Duncan Edwards.
It seemed like the perfect moment. An old legend handing the baton to a promising wonderkid.

Hype around Angel Gomes had been around for some time at Man United. In his youth the youngster who’s godfather is the former Red Devils favourite Nani, was compared to the likes of Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo.
Of course those comparisons were hasty.
However, there definitely seemed to be something special about the Man United youngster.
Gomes seemed to have the potential to become a stalwart part of the Red Devils squad for potentially decades to come.
Yet almost three years on, he has added just a mere 9 appearances to his debut.
Of course the club have been through turbulent times, but even under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer who has not shied away from presenting youth a chance, Angel Gomes has struggled to fight himself up in the pecking order.
Gomes is an enigma at United. When he’s on the pitch, he is a joy to watch. The diminutive attacking midfielder can slalom and weave past his opponents with ease.
At academy level, he has never failed to impress and even in the first team he has shown glimmers. Just not enough to warrant Solskjaer’s trust.
Soon to be turning 20 years of age, Angel Gomes will not want to play academy football forever.
And according to a report by the Daily Express and the Metro via TalkSport, he is considering making a move to club rivals Chelsea in the summer transfer window with the Blues thought to be interested in his services.
With Frank Lampard even more bold in his approach to give youth a chance, Angel Gomes might have more opportunities with the Blues.
Of course the loss will be a bitter one, and one that could come back to haunt the Red Devils. Much like Paul Pogba‘s departure in 2012.
Do you think Man United should let Angel Gomes leave the club?
