According to the latest reports this surprising club is leading the race to sign Manchester United’s Alexis Sanchez ahead of the summer transfer window.

On the 22nd January 2018, Manchester United fans around the world had to pinch themselves. They could not believe the club’s fortune. The Red Devils had just signed the best player in the Premier League. The player who had tormented United’s defence and many others on so many occasions.

Alexis Sanchez was a wizard on the ball. His bulky thighs, twinkle toes and rapid legs could weave past defenders with ease. He’d leave players chasing the streaks he left behind.

When Alexis Sanchez cut in from the flanks and unleashed a deft shot towards the goal, the end result would usually be with the ball nestling into the top corner of the net.

The Chilean forward was a true phenomenon. He seemed to have an innate ability to deceive his opponents and conjure chances for his team-mates.

Many saw him as the ideal replacement for Cristiano Ronaldo. The Chilean was regarded as the true heir to the throne. The master who would finally erase the lingering memories of the former United number seven.

There were definitely similarities in the way Alexis Sanchez played. He had the same sort of swagger and fighting spirit about him coupled with the tricks and the finish to match.

Under a fiery Jose Mourinho, it was thought the former Arsenal star would flourish even more.

Alas those hopes never materialised. Alexis Sanchez’s time at Old Trafford has been nothing short of a catastrophic failure.

United fans are no longer pinching themselves, but rather questioning their sense of reality. It is difficult to fathom that the same player who tore defences to shreds at Arsenal can become so non-existent at United.

Having failed to impress both Mourinho and Solskjaer, Alexis Sanchez is currently on loan at Inter Milan but he has had a far from promising spell there.

United look certain to offload him in the summer and a surprising team has emerged as the favourites to land the Chilean forward.

Speaking to DirectTV via the Daily Mail Universidad de Chile’s president revealed that he is in ‘talks’ with Alexis Sanchez over a potential move.

The news of Sanchez possibly returning to his homeland in Chile is a surprising one, but the president revealed that Sanchez is a ‘fan’ of the club which could convince the winger to take a hefty wage cut.
