According to the latest reports, Manchester United could steal this exciting star from Zinedine Zidane and Real Madrid’s grasp ahead of the summer window.

The Bernebeau and Old Trafford are two of the biggest venues in world football. They are equally hosts to two of the biggest institutions in Manchester United and Real Madrid.

In the past, especially under Sir Alex Ferguson’s leadership, Real Madrid have often used Old Trafford as breeding ground to bring through some of their very own stars.

From the likes of David Beckham, Ruud van Nistelrooy and Cristiano Ronaldo to Gabriel Heinze and Javier Hernandez, Real Madrid have made several marquee signings from the Red Devils.

On the other hand, United have only made two purchases from the side based in the Spanish capital. The first dates all the way back to the 1980s, when the Red Devils loaned Laurie Cunningham from the Bernebeau. The second would happen over thirty years later with the arrival of Angel Di Maria at Old Trafford which was meant to herald a new dawn at the club.

More from Red Devil Armada

Neither Cunningham and Di Maria made a huge impression at United. But on the other hand, Real’s recruits from the Red Devils all made relatively successful impacts with the Spanish side.

The Red Devils’ fortune might soon change however.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer who is desperate to build a new dynasty at Old Trafford has set his sights on the future.

The Norwegian coach had already integrated some key academy talent into the first team squad at Old Trafford and has made some shrewd purchases bringing in young players from sides based in England.

And if the latest reports are to be believed Solskjaer is set to continue his youth strategy and broaden his horizons.

Spanish outlet AS via Manchester Evening News has claimed that the Norwegian is looking to sign 17 year old Real Madrid defender Alvaro Fernandez Carreras in the summer transfer window with the player’s contract set to expire at the end of the season.

The report claims Manchester City are also interested in the young Spaniard’s services.

Little is known about Alvaro Fernandes Carreras. He is relatively tall at 1.86 metres and is described as ‘standing out’ technically on Real Madrid’s official website.

His distinctive long hair reminds one of a young Sergio Ramos.

Carreras will be hoping that he has a much more successful time at United than his predecessors who made the same move.
