Manchester United tipped to sign the next Antonio Valencia
By Bence Bocsak
According to the latest reports, Manchester United could be considering making a move for a young star dubbed Antonio Valencia‘s heir.
He arrived as an exciting and rapid winger at Manchester United. The Ecuadorian was promised to be the a Cristiano Ronaldo replacement. An immediate one at that, with the former number seven having just departed for the Bernebaeu.
Antonio Valencia was 24 years of age at the time and he had impressed for relegation strugglers Wigan for the two previous seasons prior to his arrival at Old Trafford.
It was hardly a signing which inspired the fans. But the Ecuadorian seemed like a promising prospect.

When Sir Alex Ferguson’s side visited the Latics the previous season, Antonio Valencia had torn them to shreds. His outstanding pace and nifty feet made him a nuisance for the Red Devils’ defence.
Valencia caught the club’s legendary manager’s eye and Ferguson saw a raw jewel in Antonio Valencia.
For the first few seasons Valencia was a useful and nifty player for the club. Ferguson mainly deployed him on the wing, however as the years passed with the Scotsman needing to fill the void left by Gary Neville, he used the Ecuadorian in an unorthodox right-back role.
Antonio Valencia’s versatility would prove to be a key asset.
Almost a decade following his arrival, Valencia had honed the right back role his own. The Ecuadorian departed the club as the captain of the side and one of its longer ever serving players.
Following Ferguson’s departure, Valencia endured the turbulent chopping and changing of managers which is a testament to the Ecuadorian’s quality.
And now it seems, the Red Devils might have found Antonio Valencia’s heir and are considering making a move for him.
According to StrettyNews United scouts have watched Ecuadorian full back Pervis Estupian in recent months who plays in LA Liga at the moment for Osasuna.
And Antonio Valencia himself has backed United to make a move for his fellow compatriot. Speaking on Instagram via the Metro, he said the following about Pervis Estupian:
"“From here, I send all the positive energies to Estupiñán. Hopefully, it will happen,”"
There are definitely shades of Antonio Valencia in Pervis Estupian’s style of play. Just like the former United captain, Estupian is blessed with a rapid burst of pace and is full of energy.
With United short of full back options, the Ecuadorian could be a valuable asset for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
Do you think Pervis Estupian could emulate Antonio Valencia at United?
