The main star of the team was undisputedly the Portuguese number seven. Cristiano Ronaldo was already by then one of the best players in the world. His shooting technique was frightening and his skillset and pace tore defences to shreds.

A decade on and United have still yet to replace the world class winger. Cristiano Ronaldo’s memory lingers at Old Trafford like a festering wound.

The Red Devils have often tried to heal the wound, patch it up and bandage it. However the club’s ailments have failed miserably. The likes of Angel Di Maria, Alexis Sanchez and Wilfried Zaha all arrived with the hopes to become the Cristiano Ronaldo replacement United have sought, yet they all failed to make a mark wearing the famous Red Devils crest.

A decade on, Cristiano Ronaldo is still at the pinnacle of his game. The now 35 year old has 25 goals in 32 games for Juventus this season.

And it seems, the Norwegian could be lining up a shock move for Cristiano Ronaldo in the summer.

Spanish football expert Guillem Balague revealed on his Youtube via the Daily Express that he spoke to a high ranking football club chief who claimed he would ‘not be surprised’ if Cristiano Ronaldo ended up at Old Trafford in the summer transfer window.

At 35 years old Ronaldo clearly has what it takes to compete at a high level and his return could be a nostalgic farewell at the club where he made his name.

If United can secure him for a relatively cheap price, a deal should be a no brainer.
