Manchester United have been heavily linked with Jack Grealish ahead of the summer transfer window but it seems they have found the perfect alternative.

Manchester United are undoubtedly on the hunt for midfielders in the summer transfer window. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is trying to build a world-class squad with the Red Devils. A squad that will be worthy to challenge at the pinnacle of English football once more. A squad that will compete with the club’s arch rivals, Manchester City and Liverpool. A squad that will bring back the glory days to Old Trafford.

For the last few months prior to the suspension of the football, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s problems were evident. You could see it from the stands, you could see it from the television and on the pitch.

The Red Devils’ midfield lacked the steel and the cohesion in order to be able to consistently compete with the best teams in the Premier League.

As a result the midfield was often run rugged by sides who were fighting for relegation or mid-table. The Red Devils suffered some embarrassing results.

February and the late January arrival of Bruno Fernandes somewhat alleviated those problems. However United’s squad is still short of true quality midfield talent.

The likes of Jesse Lingard, Nemanja Matic, Andreas Pereira and Juan Mata are players who no longer possess the quality (or never had) needed to be at the level where United aspire to be.

Solskjaer needs to build a dynasty, players who are young and hungry and with potential to improve and develop.

Jack Grealish seemed like the ideal candidate. On the pitch the Aston Villa captain is a joy to behold. He slaloms past players with ease and has incredible technique.

However, Jack Grealish’s recent antics off the pitch, with the English midfielder breaking quarantine to party hint at a player who is yet to mature professionally and could cause havoc.

And it seems perhaps as a result of Jack Grealish’s actions United have found another attacking midfielder candidate to recruit ahead of the summer.

According to the Evening Standard via Manchester Evenings News, the Red Devils will be looking to make a move for Kai Havertz.

The Bayer Leverkusen midfielder is regarded as one of the best German prospects at the moment.

Kai Havertz hit an impressive 17 goals from midfield last season.

He can play as a box to box or as a number ten. Both are areas where United lack depth.

Next. The Red Devils want this forward in the summer. dark

What do you think would Kai Havertz be a good signing for United?
