According to the latest reports, Manchester United will be making a move for this key Arsenal star in the summer transfer window.

For almost a decade they battled and fought each other viciously. Managers bickered off the pitch, players kicked and brawled with one another other on it, the fans clashed and conjured chants to ridicule their opponents. Arsenal and Manchester United’s rivalry was steeped in animosity between two of the best managers to have graced the Premier League.

Ultimately, Arsenal and now even United’s plight from the pinnacle has eroded some of the resentment between the two clubs. The grandeur of the rivalry is certainly no longer there. With the teams often ending up as a European spot fodder rather than in contention for the title, the spotlight is no longer on the pair of them.

Over the years, the rivalry has mainly lived off the pitch, with United often luring some of Arsenal’s brightest players away from the Gunners’ grasp.

More from Red Devil Armada

Robin van Persie and Alexis Sanchez both left the Emirates covered in infamy before arriving at Old Trafford.

And the Red Devils could be set to make yet another transfer of the same ilk from the Gunners.

According to Spanish outlet Sport via Manchester Evening News, United are looking to make a move for Arsenal’s star striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

It is no secret Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is hungry for a striker. He has all the ammunition in midfield to supply the frontline thanks to the arrival of Bruno Fernandes, but no one to finish off the chances which the Portuguese conjures.

Aubameyang is one of the deadliest forwards in the Premier League. The Gabon international is lightning quick. He’s able to dash past players as if they aren’t even there. And when he unleashes a shot towards goal, the result is usually with the ball thumping into the back of the net.

On paper, Aubameyang seems like the perfect candidate for Solskjaer’s explosive counter attacking style.

However, with the Arsenal forward turning 31 and the Gunners set to demand a hefty fee for his services, it could be a risky move to make.

Especially considering how Alexis Sanchez fared at the club following his arrival from Arsenal.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang does not fit the transfer policy deployed by Solskjaer, with the Norwegian keen to bring in youthful talent for the future.
