According to the latest reports, Manchester United are set to receive a huge boost in their attempts to keep Odion Ighalo at Old Trafford.

The smile said it all. As Odion Ighalo held up up the number 25 Manchester United shirt with his name on the back, the Nigerian forward exuded pride. He looked like a schoolboy sporting his school uniform for the first time.

And you can hardly blame him. Not only did Odion Ighalo make history with his deadline day move, but he also fulfilled his boyhood dreams.

As a kid, a young Ighalo idolised the Red Devils. In his home on the outskirts of Lagos, he would day-dream about stepping afoot on the Old Trafford turf in United colours.

More from Red Devil Armada

Though over the age of 30, he must have thought his dreams had surpassed him when the fated call came through from the Red Devils.

Perhaps the wait made it even better.

One thing is for certain, Ighalo is living his ultimate dream. The dream very few get to fulfil yet so many dream of. Especially from his home city, Lagos.

Odion Ighalo is the first Nigerian to represent United. He understands the privilege of wearing the United shirt.

Ighalo is a fighter on the pitch and his hunger and passion has endeared him to the Red Devils faithful.

Slowly the Nigerian is becoming a fan favourite on the Stretford End.

The goals have helped of course. In his first four starts for the Red Devils, Ighalo has netted in every single one.

And the Red Devils faithful will hope he continues.

The only major obstacle in Ighalo’s way so far has been the unprecedented suspension of the Premier League.

Due to the current state of the world, the Nigerian has faced an abrupt delay in continuing his good form for the club.

In fact, even worse, there were even reports which claimed Ighalo might not be able to play for the entire remainder of the season if it continues beyond his current contract expiration in June.

However according to a report by The Sun that will not be the case, as FIFA are planning to prevent players from moving clubs before the season is concluded.

That is a huge boost for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. And it surely means there will be more Ighalo goals coming soon.

Next. Solskjaer could make a Gerard Pique esque signing. dark

Do you think United should keep Odion Ighalo on a permanent transfer?
