According to the latest reports, Manchester United are looking to make a move for this exciting Barcelona prospect ahead of the summer transfer window.

In the summer of 2004, a tall and scrawny Gerard Pique arrived at Manchester United. With his hair streaked by strips of golden blonde, he looked more like a young rockstar than a footballer. Back in those days, bringing in young talent from abroad was rare in the Premier League. It was even frowned upon by some. The collective conception was that foreign players were not made for the hustle and bustle intensity of the league.

Many questioned the sanity of Sir Alex Ferguson.

Nonetheless, Gerard Pique had arrived with high pedigree. But transition to life in England would take some time.

Manchester was nothing like the sunny Catalonia he had left behind. Here the sun did not shine through every crevice or reflect off the cars. Instead, rain would smear your face when you went outside and the sun was a rare sight amidst the perpetual fog in the sky.

Pique could never quite acclimatise to the pace of the English game. He faced an arduous task in trying to jostle the likes of Nemanja Vidic and Rio Ferdinand out of the starting eleven. At the time the duo were one of the most formidable partnerships in the world.

Nonetheless, Pique will always be remembered fondly at Old Trafford. In the rare glimpses the Stretford End experienced there were always flashes of brilliance to his play. Flickers and vestiges which indicated he would eventually blossom into the world-class talent he is today.

Since his switch from Catalonia to England, many have made the same venture. Though most young talents have opted to sign for clubs like Arsenal and Liverpool.

Gerard Pique remains the only one to have moved from La Masia to Old Trafford.

However that might soon come to an end.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is trying to follow the same formula as his former boss, Sir Alex Ferguson, at Old Trafford.

And according to reports, Solskjaer could be set to make a Pique esque signing for the Red Devils.

Spanish outlet, Sport via Manchester Evening News, claims that United have ’emailed Barcelona about the possibility of signing Marc Jurado.’

The 16 year old is a right back and is believed to be highly rated at La Masia.

One thing for sure, United will hope Marc Jurado makes a bigger impact than Gerard Pique at Old Trafford.
