Manchester United have been given a boost in the transfer market, with one of their rivals’ key target admitting he ‘dreams’ of playing for the Red Devils.

Arsenal against Manchester United was once the ultimate game in the Premier League. It was the showstopper. The match which would attract football fans around the world.

Led by two legendary figures, Arsene Wenger and Sir Alex Ferguson, the two sides would compete for the Premier League year after year. The clashes between star players Patrick Vieira and Roy Keane made the game a huge spectacle.

The fierce contests developed an intense rivalry between the two sides. Hostility still lingers between the pair of them. Long since the departures of Wenger and Ferguson.

Alas, there are now new men in charge of the two clubs. Men who had competed as players amidst those fierce clashes and now find themselves in the dugout.

Both Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and Mikel Arteta are at clubs they were once adored at as players.

They are at the early stages of their managerial careers, but they will be eager to return the glory days back to their respectively sides.

Sir Alex Ferguson once declared that ‘attack wins you games, defence wins you titles.’

It is a sage statement which often rings true in football.

Therefore it is no surprise that both Solskjaer and Arteta are trying to bolster their defence in their endeavour to get their clubs back to the pinnacle of the game.

A target which has been touted around Arsenal for a long time is the RB Leipzig centre-back Dayot Upamecano.

The French defender has been at Red Bull since he was 17 years of age and has worked his way up the ranks first playing for Salzburg before making the switch to the German Bundesliga side.

In the past couple of seasons he has established himself as one of the leading defenders in the division.

And at just 21 years of age he has all the tools to go right to the top of the game. United have been linked with Kalidou Koulibaly as a potential summer recruitment, but Dayot Upamecano could be the cheaper and better option.

If the Red Devils do make a move for him, they might be in with a good chance of landing the player over Arsenal.

Dayot Upamecano once told TFI Telefoot via football. London that ‘when you are young you dream of Real Madrid, Barcelona or Manchester United’ when asked about where he would like to end up in the future.

Solskjaer should not hesitate he should rub salt in the wounds of his rivals and try to make a move for Dayot Upamecano.
