A surprising claim has been made about Manchester United’s young midfielder in the recent weeks but United fans will hope it comes true.
Picture this. You are wearing the famous crimson red. The Red Devils crest rests firmly against your chest. You can feel your heart thumping. You are about to grace the turf at Old Trafford. It is the moment. The moment you have been waiting for. The moment you will represent Manchester United.
It is every fans dream to play for their club. And it is what every academy player at United fantasises about as they train at Carrington.
Yet very few will ever be able to do it.

Those who do, most often than not become enshrined in the club’s history. Think of Bobby Charlton or the famous class of 92 and the likes of Marcus Rashford in recent times.
Old Trafford is a hotbed for youngsters.
The tradition of bringing through youth players is entrenched in the club’s traditions. From the pioneering days under Sir Matt Busby, to Sir Alex Ferguson who made the Red Devils’ academy into one of the most dominant forces in English football.
Yet since Ferguson’s departure, the tradition has somewhat faded into the background at Old Trafford.
Youngsters have tried to come through the ranks but with the chopping and changing of regimes and new systems, their path was often thwarted and their potential wasted.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is trying to seep these traditions back into United, ever since he has taken the job on at Old Trafford.
The Norwegian’s efforts have paid dividends. Since Solskjaer’s reign the likes of Mason Greenwood, Brandon Williams and Scott McTominay have all become key members of the first team squad and many are soon to follow.
It seems the latter of the trio, Scott McTominay, has made such a huge impression that according to his team-mate, Nemanja Matic speaking to MUTV via the Daily Mirror, the Scottish midfielder has the potential to become a ‘legend’ at Old Trafford.
That is high praise from the esteemed Serbian international and perhaps a surprising one.
Yet it doesn’t seem far-fetched at all when you watch Scott McTominay play. The midfielder’s performances have been top notch this season and the 23 year old is continuing to improve.
Do you think Scott McTominay will become a United legend?
