Odion Ighalo – 8/10

Transfer fee: Loan

Position: Forward

Games played this season: 8

Goals scored this season: 4

Assists this season: 1

When Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was seeking a striker to sign in January, the Norwegian had rested all his hopes on luring his fellow compatriot, Erling Braut Haland to Old Trafford. However, after his efforts failed, Solskjaer was forced to search for alternatives.

Perhaps even Solskjaer himself wouldn’t have guessed he would be forced to sign Odion Ighalo from China.

After almost a three year hiatus from the Premier League, the 30 year old had been largely written off as anything but a player edging closer towards retirement.

Ighalo himself wouldn’t have imagined in his wildest dreams that he would ever end up at Old Trafford.

But alas, the boyhood United fan ended up donning the famous Red Devils crest on deadline day and grinning like a schoolboy.

The most unprecedented part of the whole saga is the way Ighalo has taken everyone by surprise.  The Nigerian was coined a flop even before his arrival but Ighalo refused to play into that narrative.

So far he has netted in every single one of his starts for the club and has warmed his way into the fans’ hearts.

Bruno Fernandes – 9/10

Transfer fee: £49.50 million

Position: Attacking midfielder

Games played this season: 9

Goals scored this season: 3

Assists this season: 4

His transfer saga stretched on for far too long and just when United looked as if they were going to miss out on yet another key target they pulled it out of the bag.

Bruno Fernandes was exactly what the Red Devils needed. His creativity and exuberance on the pitch has had a transformative impact on the team. With Bruno Fernandes in the side, the Red Devils have looked frightening going forward and have broken down rigid defences with ease.

The Portuguese has managed to get the best out of the likes of Anthony Martial and Daniel James and has helped secure important victories against Chelsea and Manchester City already in the race for the top four.

A great signing by the looks of it so far and one that will be an integral part of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s squad going forward.
