Manchester United to miss out on ‘next Pogba’ in shock twist
By Bence Bocsak
According to the latest reports Manchester United could miss out on the wonderkid who has been dubbed the ‘next Paul Pogba‘ to their arch rivals.
No player can have a carbon copy. Footballers are not clones. However every now and again a player emerges who seems almost identical in their playing style to a former great. They rekindle memories and capture similar sentiments. The current Manchester United target, Eduardo Camavinga falls into that category.
Camavinga burst onto the scene as a 16 year old earlier this season plying his trade for his hometown club, Rennes. He first caught the eye in a stupendous performance against Paris Saint Germain in which he dictated the midfield against the Parisian’s star studded line-up.
With Paul Pogba rumoured to be on his way out. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer‘s eyes must have gleamed at the sight.

Eduardo Camavinga is in the same ilk as the French World Cup winner. His towering figure, boisterous energy and composure enables him to control the midfield in much the same way Paul Pogba has done at United.
Camavinga’s ability and exemplary distribution makes him a huge asset when trying to breakdown opposition defences even when he is deployed in a deep lying position.
And whilst it was rumoured that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was ready to pounce on the young star, it seems the Red Devils might miss out on the exciting wonderkid. Worst of all Solskjaer could lose his key target to the club’s arch rivals.
According to Spanish outlet Sport via the Metro, Liverpool have made ‘contact’ with Rennes to sign Eduardo Camavinga.
Of course the rumours should be taken with a pinch of salt. However if Eduardo Camavinga decides to move to Anfield over Old Trafford he wouldn’t be the first player to reject the Red Devils in favour of the Merseyside club in recent years.
Whilst previously United seemed to hold the hegemony over transfers, Liverpool have beaten United to key signings such as the likes of Roberto Firmino and Fabinho.
Losing out to Camavinga would be yet more testament that United’s status in world football is on a decline.
Do you think United can beat Liverpool to the signing of Eduardo Camavinga?
