Manchester United to sign the next Robin van Persie
By Bence Bocsak
According to the latest reports Manchester United could be on the brink of making a Robin van Persie ‘style’ transfer this summer.
The ultimate betrayal. Utter treachery. Arsenal fans were left tearing and blazing his shirt to ashes outside the Emirates stadium. They were enraged and dubbed him a traitor. Their beloved hero. Their captain fantastic and best player had just traded his shirt for Manchester United – Arsenal’s arch rivals.
The football world had rarely seen such an unprecedented event. However while the Arsenal fans were left to mourn their loss, United fans could only rejoice.
Robin van Persie’s arrival was yet another stupendous coup by the club’s legendary manager Sir Alex Ferguson.

After losing out to their arch rivals Manchester City for the title, it was just what the Red Devils needed. While the club’s midfield was star studded, United lacked a mercurial and ruthless finisher up-front.
Robin van Persie had an instantaneous impact scoring with his first shot in a Red Devils shirt.
That season the Dutchman netted 26 Premier League goals and helped United to their last ever Premier League title.
Now it seems, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer could be targeting a similar formula at Old Trafford.
According to the Metro, the Red Devils have ‘identified’ Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang of Arsenal ‘as a top target’ ahead of the summer transfer window.
Just like Van Persie, Pierre-Emerik Aubameyang is the current Arsenal top-goalscorer and he is also the Arsenal captain.
However, similarly to Van Persie, Aubameyang faces a predicament in the summer. Arsenal are in a transformation period and with Aubameyang nearing retirement age he will want to compete at a higher level than the Gunners are currently capable of.
It is why the Red Devils, who look likely to make the top four in the Premier League, are looking to pounce.
Aubameyang’s pace and deadly finishing is exactly what United have lacked this season.
The recipe has worked once before with Robin van Persie and therefore there is no reason as to why it cannot work again.
In the summer, perhaps United fans will have yet another transfer to boast over their arch rivals.
Would you be happy with the signing of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang?
