Manchester United are set for a busy transfer window and as well as new arrivals they could be saying goodbye to these two current stars.

Perhaps there has never been a more pivotal transfer window in the history of Manchester United than the one which awaits the club in the summer.

The best managers are the ones who are prepared to make big decisions. They are individuals who put their emotional attachment aside and prioritise the wellbeing of the club over anything else.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer ability to make big decisions will be put to the test in the crucial summer window ahead, when he will be tasked with the job of trying to snip away the deadwood from United’s squad.

More from Red Devil Armada

With the Red Devils keen to get back to the pinnacle of the Premier League, it is clear some of the current players in the squad are simply not at the right standard.

And it seems Solskjaer is prepared to be ruthless in the summer.

According to the Manchester Evening News via the Daily Express, United are ‘likely’ to sell Jesse Lingard and Phil Jones in the summer.

Both players hold a strong sentimental bond with the club. Phil Jones has served the Red Devils for almost a decade since the summer of 2011. Meanwhile Jesse Lingard has been at the club since he was just 8 years old.

The Red Devils have fond memories of the duo and they have been loyal assets to the club over the years, however as United are nearing a new metamorphosis it is clear the likes of Lingard and Phil Jones are no longer needed.

The pair of them have declined in form over the last couple of seasons and have consequently fallen down the pecking order at Old Trafford.

With Phil Jones 28 years old and Jesse Lingard 27, it is clear neither of the players are the young prospects they were once regarded as.

However, Jones and Lingard still have plenty of years left to give to the game of football and therefore the decision to part ways with the club would be the best solution for both.

At another destination both Lingard and Jones would be given more playing time.

Meanwhile for United, they will need to bolster their squad and the departure of the duo will free up more room in the club’s wages.

Next. The Red Devils will target Sancho and another world class forward. dark

Would you be sad to see Jesse Lingard and Phil Jones leave?
