Manchester United set to beat arch rivals to exciting talent
By Bence Bocsak
Despite strong interest from their Premier League arch rivals it seems Manchester United will secure this exciting young talent in the summer.
The Premier League sees a plethora of new players emerge onto the scene year after year. Often these players are unearthed gems and sometimes they are wonderkids who have been tipped to become world stars. Manchester United’s loanee, Dean Henderson, falls somewhere in between the two.
The current Sheffield United goalkeeper has been at Old Trafford since he was just 14 years of age.
Henderson rose through the ranks at Carrington and slowly worked himself up to the U18s for the 2013/14 season. At the time, Dean Henderson was regarded as one of the best goalkeepers in the country.

The then 17 year old was a regular member of England’s U17 squad.
The future seemed bright for the youngster however he picked up an unprecedented injury during the 2014/15 season which derailed his progress.
Following his recovery Dean Henderson struggled to fight himself back into the reckoning and instead the goalkeeper was shipped out on loan.
First to National League North side Stockport in January 2016, then to Grimsby in League Two during the 2016/17 season and later to Shrewsbury in League One for the 2017/18 campaign.
His loan spells were a mixed bag. At Grimsby, Dean Henderson was forced to play second fiddle, but at Shrewsbury a year later he managed to become the first choice keeper playing a level higher.
Ultimately, in 2018, Dean Henderson made the leap to Sheffield United and the Championship.
Since making the loan move, the youngster hasn’t looked back.
Dean Henderson enjoyed a stupendous first season with the Blades helping to guide them back into the Premier League.
Inevitably Henderson moved back on loan to Sheffield for the current campaign and has made the step-up to Premier League football with ease.
Now the 23 year old is regarded as one of the best goalkeepers in the league and is being tipped to become the England number one.
With United’s first choice keeper, David de Gea, out of form the Red Devils ideally want to keep hold of Henderson when he returns from his loan. Especially with arch rivals Chelsea vying for the Englishman’s services.
And it seems according to the Sun via the Metro that the Red Devils will offer a ‘£100k a week’ contract in order to try to retain Henderson and beat Chelsea to his signature.
That is a handsome amount and surely one that even the likes of Chelsea cannot compete with, meaning Henderson is likely to remain at Old Trafford next season.
Would you be happy with Dean Henderson as United’s number one goalkeeper?
