The Manchester United boss has given a very promising update about the club’s first potential signing in the summer transfer window.

Manchester United are finally starting to see vestiges of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer‘s vision at Old Trafford.

The Norwegian has strung together a finely tuned side, capable of playing the type of football the Red Devils faithful have come to expect after decades of success.

Many doubted the Norwegian, however it seems those doubts have been cast aside now. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer clearly seems like the right man for the job.

More from Red Devil Armada

The radical change in how Solskjaer is regarded within the club has been largely thanks to his January signings.

Bruno Fernandes in particular has had a transformative impact on the side. His creativity has finally been able to breakdown the resilient opposition defences the Red Devils have often encountered.

But whilst much of the talk has been of Bruno Fernandes’ impact, the club’s second January transfer window signing, Odion Ighalo has gone somewhat under the radar.

The Nigerian arrived with little expectations. He was regarded as more of a panic buy who was past his peak at 30 years of age with several seasons of Chinese football behind him.

In fact the club were ridiculed for making a move for him in the first place.

However Odion Ighalo has proved all the doubters wrong.

The move was a dream come true for the Nigerian who is a boyhood United fan. Ighalo was determined to make his stay at Old Trafford an extremely prosperous one.

As soon as he arrived at United, he got down to business, working and training hard in order to get himself match fit.

And since then, Ighalo has been a valuable asset for the Red Devils.

In fact he is slowly turning himself into a cult hero due to his exuberant attitude and eager work ethic. And also largely thanks to his four goals in eight games, including a brace against Derby County in the FA Cup.

What’s been even more impressive is that Ighalo has found the back of the net in every single game he has started for United.

That form has impressed Solskjaer who hinted that Ighalo could be the club’s first summer signing.

After the Europa League game against LASK, the Norwegian manager said via the Metro that the club will ‘need’ Ighalo’s ‘qualities next season.’

That is surely an indication Solskjaer will be working hard to sign Odion Ighalo permanently.
