Manchester United are keeping a close eye on an exciting young prospect from Spain and have sent scouts to watch him according to reports.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is not satisfied at Manchester United. The Red Devils’ form may have picked up in recent weeks and his new signings have hit the ground running, however the Norwegian boss clearly wants more.

The expectations at Old Trafford are astronomical. The Red Devils aspire to get back to where they belong. Where they once were under the leadership of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s former manager, Sir Alex Ferguson.

The task is mighty but it is one Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is determined to achieve. Having witnessed first hand what it took Sir Alex Ferguson to get there, he is well equipped to emulate his former coach.

More from Red Devil Armada

The most important part of the process will be building a squad that is capable of challenging the likes of Manchester City and Liverpool.

The summer transfer window will be a key part of the rebuilding. With already some key parts of the squad established such as the likes of Harry Maguire and Bruno Fernandes now what remains is the players who will fill the cracks.

An area where the Red Devils are still short of options, and might be even shorter in the summer with Paul Pogba set to depart and Juan Mata getting older and older, is attacking midfield.

And it seems United may have identified the perfect solution to their lack of depth.

According to Spanish outlet El Diario Vasco via the Daily Mail, Manchester United sent their chief scout, Marcel Bout, to watch Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s fellow countryman Martin Odegaard in action.

Martin Odegaard who is on loan from Real Madrid at Real Sociedad has been a highly rated prospect ever since he emerged onto the scene as a 16 year old.

Now 21, the Norwegian midfielder is finally justifying the early hype which surrounded his career. At Real Sociedad he has established himself as a key member of their squad in La Liga.

Martin Odegaard currently has 7 goals and 8 assists in 25 games for the Spanish side which is an impressive return.

Still so young with plenty of time to improve and huge amounts of potential, Martin Odegaard could thrive at United.
