Mourinho set to sign Manchester United’s ‘best player’
By Bence Bocsak
Former Manchester United manager, Jose Mourinho is looking at targeting a player from the Red Devils who has been dubbed as the ‘best’ in the squad.
Jose Mourinho’s time at Manchester United begun so well. The Portuguese led them to Europa League glory and helped the Red Devils finish second place behind a controversial Manchester City side. Yet somewhere along the line his reputation begun to dwindle and things started to sour for him at Old Trafford. Inevitably Jose Mourinho was sacked and the rest is history.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has come in his place and has done an amicable job, meanwhile Jose Mourinho has landed himself another job in the Premier League at the helm of Tottenham ousting the man who was tipped to replace him at Old Trafford, Mauricio Pochettino, in the process.
Jose Mourinho is renowned for his cynical and mercenary approach to football. For him the only thing which matters is winning and being the best. Jose Mourinho reserves no niceties and has no unbreakable oaths to keep.

Mourinho is a selfish man in football and he takes the same cynical approach in the transfer market as he does on the pitch.
It is why loyalty and respect has not prevented him from seeking to sign players from his former club in Manchester United.
According to the latest reports by Italian outlet Corriere dello Sport via 90min.com Jose Mourinho is interested and ‘in talks’ to sign Chris Smalling from the Red Devils.
Chris Smalling is currently on loan at Roma but his performances have been exceptional in the Serie A and have earned him rave reviews. Former Manchester United legend, Rio Ferdinand even dubbed him as the ‘best defender’ at the club.
While United may not be entirely concerned by the departure of Chris Smalling, they will be reluctant to strengthen their former foe in Jose Mourinho and a rival in Tottenham.
Chris Smalling is still an accomplished defender and his performances in the Italian league should merit him another chance at Old Trafford to prove himself.
What do you think, should United allow Chris Smalling to depart?
