Manchester United have been given a huge warning as they prepare for the summer transfer window which could deter them from making this move.

It is no secret Manchester United will be on the lookout for exciting new recruits in the summer transfer window. The Red Devils have already been heavily linked with a plethora of potential players and while some of the links have seemed credible others have been absolutely bizarre.

The area of the pitch that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and Ed Woodward will be desperate to bolster is the midfield. Especially as Paul Pogba looks to depart the club for pastures new which is set to leave a gaping void. The Red Devils lack any genuine quality in midfield without the presence of Paul Pogba. It is too early to say whether Bruno Fernandes can mend that, but even one player will not be enough if the club are serious about challenging at the top once more.

A name which has been perpetually linked with Manchester United is Aston Villa captain Jack Grealish. The English midfielder seems to be one of United’s key targets in the summer with the Red Devils rumoured to be keen on the player.

However it seems that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and his side may have been dealt a huge blow in their pursuit with the Aston Villa manager ‘firing a warning’ about any potential transfer for Jack Grealish.

Via the Daily Express Aston Villa boss Dean Smith stated that Jack Grealish ‘is going nowhere.’ Smith said the following:

"“They know (club’s owners) that if you want to be a successful team you have to keep your best players. They will be working very hard to make sure our best players stop at this football club. That’s the best answer I can give about Jack.”"

Of course such statement may simply be trivial considering Aston Villa’s position in the Premier League and the potential lure of Manchester United for Jack Grealish. Therefore Dean Smith’s statement should be taken with a pinch of salt.

However Aston Villa’s resistance to allow Jack Grealish to depart and their wealthy status may make it more difficult for the Red Devils to sanction a deal and they might have to pay a heftier price. Often Ed Woodward has struggled in negotiations in the past and United will hope he will be up for the task this time around and doesn’t make the same mistakes.
