Manchester United: Pochettino not the favourite to replace Solskjaer
By Bence Bocsak
It seems the former Tottenham coach is not the favourite to replace Ole Gunnar Solskjaer at Manchester United instead it is a surprising choice.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s position as Manchester United manager is precarious to say the least. The Norwegian has been given the mighty task of guiding the Red Devils back to the pinnacle of the footballing world and so far Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has failed to deliver that demand.
Despite a promising start at Old Trafford in which Solskjaer famously commandeered a win over Paris Saint Germain in the Champions League, Manchester United currently sit in 9th place in the Premier League.
A coveted return to the Champions League seems unlikely and there is a gaping gap between the club’s arch rivals, Liverpool and Manchester City.

That has caused discontent to permeate around the stands at Old Trafford and the fans are becoming increasingly impatient for results to be delivered. Especially after a horrendous January which saw defeats against Burnley, Liverpool, Arsenal and Manchester City.
Whilst Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has not been helped by a largely inept board and other circumstances at Old Trafford with the money he was backed with in the summer one would still expect better results.
And thus it is no surprise Mauricio Pochettino has been heavily linked with a move to the Red Devils. However it seems that the former Tottenham boss is not the favourite to take over from Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
Instead according to Sport Mediaset via Caughtoffside, former Juventus coach Massimilano Allegri is in ‘pole position’ to replace Ole Gunnar Solskjaer at Old Trafford.
Massimiliano Allegri had an extremely successful time with Juventus and he knows how to deliver trophies and is familiar with the rebuilding process required at United having done it once before.
At 51 years of age he is still relatively young for a manager and has taken some time away from the game for a well earned break. However he may be tempted to join the Red Devils if the opportunity arises.
What do you think, would Massimiliano Allegri be the right replacement for Solskjaer?
