Manchester United leading the race for world class defender

Manchester United are reportedly winning the race for one of the best defenders in world football and could bring him to Old Trafford in the summer.
Old Trafford stands proudly on the outskirts of Manchester. It glitters in Manchester United’s rich history and stands as a shrine for football glory. The Red Devils are not only a football club but rather a religion to their most ardent supporters. The club’s every move is worshipped and scrutinised. To the United faithful, the club means more than just football; it is their life.
Unfortunately during recent times, the Red Devils’ supporters have been tormented by ineptitude both on and off the field. United linger in mediocrity and live in the shadows of their arch rivals Liverpool and Manchester City.
The man tasked with brining them out of this misery is Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. As a player he was a cult hero at Old Trafford who helped the Red Devils secure a hoard of trophies. Solskjaer was worshiped as a god and deemed an ethereal being. As a manager he is yet to receive that treatment.

The Norwegian has struggled so far during his tenure and has failed to establish a Manchester United hegemony reminiscent of his playing days.
In fact the Red Devils are nowhere near where they would like to be and currently sit in 8th place in the Premier League.
The squad desperately needs some reinforcements and it seems the club are about to have a major overhaul in the summer.
United will be expected to make a whole myriad of signings in virtually almost every area of the pitch.
One of the most important ones however will be in defence. A good defence is always the spine of a great side and it is an area the Red Devils have struggled this season.
Fortunately, according to Italian outlet il Matino via Sports Witness, Manchester United are leading the race for Napoli centre back Kalidou Koulibaly.
Kalidou Koulibaly is one of the best defenders in the world and he could be a major coup for the Red Devils. Kalidou Koulibaly’s arrival could transform the team and could be the key to the Red Devils’ winning formula.
