Manchester United finally admit to this huge transfer mistake

Manchester United have been under great scrutiny over their transfer dealings this season and it seems they have finally admitted to their flaws.
In some ways the transfer window is like the lottery. There are a plethora of options in front of you and you have to chose the right one. To chose the right option however is extremely hard. It is a huge gamble and Manchester United have been all too aware of this arduous process over the last few years.
The club’s issues seemed to begin with the appointment of Ed Woodward. Then the departure of Sir Alex Ferguson seemed to multiply them even more.
It is blatantly obvious that Woodward has struggled to acquire the right calibre of signings at Manchester United. His negotiation technique has often been below par and it has left the club with a hefty wage bill and underperforming players as well as an entire hoard of flops who failed to live up to the hype at Old Trafford.
Resentment has grown so high towards Ed Woodward that the club’s supporters staged an insidious protest outside his house. While such drastic action was unwarranted it is clear Woodward has failed to succeed in his role.
His departure could be imminent with United having already identified an ideal replacement for him.
And it seems the club are finally admitting to their transfer mistakes too.
According to the Sunday Times, the club are ‘want to recruit a forward in the summer after realising they made a mistake by not replacing Romelu Lukaku when he left for Inter Milan last year.’
Selling Lukaku and not finding a replacement for him has left the club having to rely on Anthony Martial and Marcus Rashford this season. And with the latter possibly sidelined until the end of the season, it has forced the Red Devils to purchase Odion Ighalo in a major panic buy last month.
That could cost them huge in the long run as it has put their chances of getting back to the Champions League extremely low.
But having admitted to their mistake, the club must now put things right by amending their error in the summer.
What do you think did United make a mistake by not replacing Romelu Lukaku?
