Huge shock as Manchester United ‘scout’ former Liverpool flop

Manchester United have reportedly begun to scout a former Liverpool flop and could potentially make a move for him in the summer.

The rivalry between Manchester United and Liverpool is as fierce and as ancient as football itself. In fact tensions begun between the two cities way before football had even been birthed. In the 1800s tensions arose over the rivalry between the two cities ports at the dawn of industrialisation.

Since then the cities have shown unbridled resentment towards one another which has only grown upon the emergence of the two football clubs.

Liverpool and Manchester United have always competed against one another to be the dominant force in English football. The two club’s achievements in the game trump every other English team and they are rightfully the nation’s two most successful sides.

Not many go on to represent both teams. Those who do are etched in infamy by rival fans. The likes of Michael Owen and Paul Ince for example are often despised by respective fans for their misdeeds.

When you have already represented one team you make a sacred and unspoken vow to never represent the other.

To break it is an act of treachery.

Yet it seems  United could be on the brink of trying to persuade a player to do that very deed.

According to Football Insider via the Daily Star Manchester United are interested in current Sporting Lisbon winger Rafael Camacho.

The 19 year old spent three years on Merseyside after a short brief stint at Manchester City’s academy. During his time at Liverpool Rafael Camacho made two senior appearances for the club in an unorthodox right back position and impressed at academy level.

However since making the move to Sporting in the summer the youngster has settled into his more familiar winger role and has so far made 17 appearances for the Portuguese club’s first team scoring 1 goal and giving out 1 assist this season.

Camacho is still young and his versatility could be a huge asset to Manchester United. He would certainly be worth a punt especially considering how the last two wingers the club signed from Sporting turned out at Old Trafford in Nani and Cristiano Ronaldo.
