Manchester United are set to battle it out with Chelsea for the exciting attacker and the Red Devils could have the upper edge.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s time at Manchester United could be entering a new dawn phase. The Red Devils have been largely inconsistent under the stewardship of their former cult hero but having landed Bruno Fernandes in the January window at last, it seems the club is making some progressive steps.

The drab draw against Wolverhampton Wanderers was of course nothing to prove this. However there were little flickers and hints of what could be to come.

Bruno Fernandes was especially excellent going forward and the way he kept the United midfield ticking.

More from Red Devil Armada

What was is missing is merely the attacking edge. With the absence of Marcus Rashford, the Red Devils lacked that offensive prowess. Often they were left squandering chances and ruing their missed opportunities.

It is clear Ole Gunnar Solskjaer desperately needs to strengthen in the attacking department if he is serious about keeping his job and taking United back to where they belong.

The perfect candidate could be Jadon Sancho who has been extremely prolific scoring and creating goals for Borussia Dortmund over the last couple of seasons.

And according to the Sun via the Daily Mail Manchester United are expected to fight Chelsea for the services of Sancho in the summer.

Whilst Chelsea may have the upper hand in terms of their league position, Sancho’s move to the Blues may be stifled by the club’s lack of financial might. According to the report, Chelsea ‘would require a lot summer movement’ to land the deal for Sancho.

On the other hand, United could still reach the top four in the Premier League and their financial situation could make them more likely to land Sancho from Dortmund.

With Paul Pogba expected to depart the Red Devils, the club will have a hefty budget for the window which could easily prize Sancho away from Germany.

With the young English international the perfect fit for the Red Devils and the club having the financial edge over Chelsea it would be a no brainer for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer to make a move.
