Manchester United have been given a major boost in trying to land one of their long coveted targets in the summer transfer window.

When Ole Gunnar Solskjaer took charge of the club, he had one mission and goal in mind. The Norwegian wanted to help Manchester United return back to where they belong.

Over a year into his reign and less than a year since he was named as the permanent Red Devils boss, on paper not much has changed at Old Trafford.

United are still miles behind their arch rivals Liverpool and Manchester City and are struggling to break into the top four. The club are currently sitting in 7th place in the Premier League.

And whilst even the mood around Old Trafford hasn’t changed with the fans still extremely hostile towards the way the club is run, there have been some improvements.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is slowly shaping a squad that will be capable of competing for the title in the long run. The Norwegian has snipped away some of the deadwood at the club and brought in some gems including the likes of Harry Maguire and the recent acquisition of  Bruno Fernandes who are all expected to have a huge impact on the club.

Solskjaer has also brought in and integrated some huge academy prospects through the likes of Brandon Williams and Mason Greenwood into the Red Devils’ first team squad.

The potential therefore is there for the Red Devils but merely they simply just need more time.

The squad is still not fully equipped to deal with Solskjaer’s ambitions.

It seems however the Red Devils’ squad could soon be bolstered.

It’s no secret that Manchester United are desperate to land the services of Timo Werner and the RB Leipzig striker may have just given them a huge boost.

Speaking to Kicker via Manchester Evening News, Timo Werner revealed that it would ‘certainly be fun’ playing in the Premier League and that he could ‘imagine himself playing abroad one day.’

This means that Timo Werner is clearly keen on a move to Old Trafford.

But with many other teams vying for his services it would be crucial for the Red Devils to secure Champions League football for next season as Werner is unlikely to play for a team in the Europa League and might regard that as a step-down.
